PAC Study Tour,
Egypt December 2007
Safe international
had selected three doctors and one sister (Dr Basheer Aljeyli.
Dr Atif Fazari, Sister Amira Elnour and Dr. Tag Elsir Mohamed
Ali) in cooperation with PPFA & Gynuity Health Projects to
participate in Misoprostol Study at AL-Shatby hospital
(Alexandria) and Algala hospital (Cairo)

The Sudanese PAC network
team knows about use of Misoprostol on incomplete abortion
The Study had been very useful and
informative; the study tour covered all aspects of clinical use
of Misoprostol and the protocol of Misoprostol study in treating
incomplete abortion at Shatby and Algala hospitals. We realize
that it covered our needs, it is very relevant to the work in
Sudan, and it can be applicable in our country.
It was been a pleasure to meet that
a wonderful staff at Shatby hospital and Dr. Mohamed Sherine (Algala
hospital), the consultant Dr.Nevine Hassanein and Rasha Dabash
from Gynuity Health Projects.

PAC Network
team attended presentations on Egyptian experience
The three days of the study tour
had been enjoyable with excellent accommodation and very pleased
discussions and planning. I had been presented a current
situation of PAC in Sudan and it took a broad & useful
discussion. We discussed the following points:
There
is a demand to integrate Misoprostol in PAC services and
protocol as had already begun with MVA.
While
Misoprostol is not registered or officially available in Sudan,
it is widely available and used frequently for wide range of RH
indications
Dr.
Mohamed Cherine and Dr.Nevine Hassanein will travel to the Sudan
for 2-3 days at the second half of February. There will meet
with the key policy persons to discuss the integration of
Misoprostol into the broader PAC strategy for the Sudan, they
will also visit 2-3 hospitals in Khartoum and one state hospital
(Madany hospital) to select tow hospitals that will likely the
study will took place first.
Gynuity will develop operational research on Misoprostol to
collect statistical data in collaboration with Safe
International.
They
had been a discussion to invite some key person from MOH to
attend the national dissemination meetings in Egypt on
Misoprostol for PPH treatment & for Incomplete Abortion.
